Christmas Poem from 1967

Chubby cheeks and laughing eyes
Christmas pud and hot mince pies
Mistletoe to kiss below
Coloured candles all aglow

Tinsel glittering all around
And wrapping paper on the ground
For Gran some bed socks – she’s so glad
And on the tree – a pipe for Dad

A time for all who love to give
And for those who love to live
For families close – and lovers too
It’s great what Christmas does to you!

The world seems made of lovely things
Marmalade – and icing rings
Smiles and kisses – pink young cheeks
Why can’t it last for weeks and weeks?

But Christmas is a Special Day
We all know that – in our own way
That He was born for me and you
To give us Love, so good and True
